Mayor Becky Miller, if we can trust that that's her real name, has been mayor of Carrollton for 10 years and has very little to show for it. I doubt that will stop her from bumping up the ol' resume when she leaves office to reflect that she's personally responsible for bringing DFW Airport and the George Bush Turnpike through the Carrollton city limits, even if the connection to DFW is nothing more substantial than a flight holding pattern.
I say this because, it came out today that Mayor Miller has made claims over the years that she was a backup singer for Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne between 1976 and 1978. Somewhere, back in those glory days on the road, she claims she was also engaged to Don Henley of The Eagles. Unfortunately, none of those singers know who the heck she is, or was. She claims she sang under another name, but didn't want to share the alias to clear her good name, whatever good name she might have operated under, currently or in the past. You'd certainly think that Don Henley could remember someone that he was engaged to marry, but he doesn't, probably because he wasn't. Her ex-husband and father don't remember those crazy years either. Go figure.
Her political website refers to the education she received at Western Kentucky University. Fortunately, her website didn't go on and on about how much she enjoyed the ethics class she enrolled in because the university has no record that she was ever a student there. None.
Ms. Miller also claimed that her half-brother died in Vietnam. Her father claims that her only brother is alive and well, thank you very much, and living in Maryland. Ms. Miller then asserts that she made up certain details of her brother's name and death so that her mayoral political opponent would use them against her and she could then sue him for slander. She claims to know plenty of dirt on this political opponent, but won't use it because she doesn't want to engage in dirty politics. How she can say this, after admitting that she wanted to set him up for a slander suit, is beyond comprehension.
She still clings to the story that her half-brother died in Vietnam and dismisses her father's response by saying that he's old and suffering from Alzheimer's disease. She's been quoted as saying (about her father), " He can't remember tomorrow. My dad comes in and out of clarity."
I think someone comes in and out of clarity in this family, but it's probably not the father.
