Flower Buyers Beware
I quit buying flowers from FTD florists a few years ago, when they failed to deliver a special bouquet to my Valentine at work as they had promised. Giving me a refund wasn’t enough to take away the disappointment, and embarrassment, to my bride and me. This year, there have been complaints that FTD marked up the flowers sold to customers on the Groupon online coupon site before applying the Groupon negotiated discount. Customers were incensed to find out that the same flowers were for sale at a lower price than the Groupon discounted price when purchased directly from FTD’s own website. When it comes to FTD, a rose by any other name, might actually smell sweeter . . .
A Kiss to Die For
SADS news from Britain this weekend, where a shy, athletic, 18-year old died of SADS (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome) within minutes of experiencing her very first kiss at the lips of a fellow university student. I’m not making this up. The report I read said that there are about 500 cases of SADS each year, although I’m sure that most of these deaths are completely unrelated to kissing.
